S4.E6 ∙ The Haunted Bypass

This documentary traces the work of Ara Sarafian, an archival historian. The documentary was commissioned when Sarafian began a campaign to oppose the efforts of Turkish parliamentarians in London to deny the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

After saving lives on the battlefields of Afghanistan, the members of a medevac unit return home to their families, each wounded in different ways.

In 1945, an international court of judges from the U.S., England, France and the Soviet Union tried 22 top Nazi leaders, including Hermann Goering and Rudolph Hess. The defendants were charged with conspiracy, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Twelve defendants were sentenced to death, seven received prison terms and three were acquitted.

Weary of the creative process, an old painter fixes a broken instrument he finds in the rubble. When his students go around looking for someone who can play the instrument, they meet other artists bearing the scars of war.
