In Pakistan, a confident and charming Mason and his childhood friend Vincent, both were in senior school in 1969, when Mason met a girl named Vanessa who was positive, intelligent and creative. Instantly he was attracted to her.

Perhaps seeking a father figure as a result of childhood abandonment, Michael, who's about 35, carries on with older men a mix of affairs, one-night stands, and casual sex in public toilets. Joe, from whom he has recently broken, abuses him; his latest flame, a police detective, ignores him. His and his twin Joey's birthday approaches, and it triggers memories of their childhood and their illnesses at age seven, leaving Michael a bad heart and retarding Joey's mental development. He buys a birthday present for Joey, but in his melancholy, arrives late after his brother is sleeping. His mother still mourns her husband's leaving. A crisis and resolution ensue.

One day, Zamil confesses his feelings to Nurul, but when she rejects them, he tries to rape her. Nurul manages to escape and hides herself in Salman's room, but when she is found out, the villagers give the two a choice: either get charged in the Syariah court or get married and leave the village. In order to protect his reputation, Salman agrees to the latter option, but Nurul soon realises that Salman also treats her like his maid.

Set in Lucknow, it deals with exploitation of women and problems of local "chikan" embroidery workers.
