In fall 2005, after almost 30 years of traveling and playing music, Chris Whitley, destitute and battling complications from lung cancer, cancelled the remainder of tour dates in support of his then latest record, Soft Dangerous Shores. Facing illness and eviction, and estranged from his lover of many years, it was unclear of what his future held. This is his story.
