A petty criminal in post , just out of jail, is trying to find work. In order to get a job he needs to have a passport, which in turn he can't get without having a job first. When he finds an officer's overcoat for sale in a pawn shop, he decides to impersonate an officer and get his passport that way.

But Paula's commitment to help Maggie renovate the inn threatens to thwart Kurt and Verena's plans. When the devious plan threatens to fail, Kurt uses a nasty trick.
