It's Just Not Funny is a message to the Entertainment Industry to take the derogatory and demeaning word "retard", out of their scripts. I'm the father of a Special Needs child, and I'm very tired of hearing that word used on television, in movies, on stage, on talk shows and in interviews. It's hurtful and it's just not funny. My documentary is insightful, heartwarming and educational. It's a message that should be seen by all ages. I must warn you that I call out celebrities in the Entertainment Industry by name. I only call out the offenders that use "retard" in their scripts, interviews or dialogue. It's harsh and it's shocking, but it has to be done. It needs to be stopped, and the Entertainment Industry has that power to end it.

Extreme poverty has plagued the hardworking families living in Leon, Nicaragua, for many years. The majority of the families effected by the poverty live in 'settlements' on the outskirts of the city. Each morning, members of the settlement travel to the heart of the city selling baked goods, clothing, and newspapers to provide for their families. Every night they return to their homes made of plastic tarps, rotting wood or, if they are lucky enough, sheet metal. Michelle Chavez is a member of Techo, an organization that believes adequate housing is the first step towards self-reliance. Upon searching these settlements she finds a family of three living in a house that has to be evacuated every time it rains.
