Eagle in a Cage

Herbert Landis, who secretly loves Anne Travers, is sent by her father to supervise construction of a bridge in Oregon. Anne insists that society man Hilary Fenton join the party, and as a result Landis broods in his cabin, which he shares with his foreman Ole Bergson. Ole, who claims to know all about love, disguises himself as well-known desperado Blackie Blanchette and kidnaps Anne, leaving a note urging Landis to "rescue" her; however, Ole is captured by the real Blackie. While a raging forest fire breaks out, Landis rides to the cabin and confronts Blackie; as the fire reaches the cabin, Blackie meets a fiery death while Landis and Anne stagger through the flames to the river. The other suitor, finding country customs too rough, departs, leaving Anne to discover her true love.

Chan (20 minutes) - While navigating the complicated process of adoption, a committed interracial gay couple discovers something very valuable about their relationship and their quest to start a family. (3) SHABBAT DINNER Directed by Michael Morgenstern (14 minutes) - Friday night Shabbat dinner is boring as usual for William Shore. His mother shows off for their guests, his father has too much to drink, and he gets stuck entertaining fellow teenager Virgo, with whom he has nothing in common at least, until he discovers that they both share a very important secret. (4) KIMCHI FRIED DUMPLINGS Directed by Jason Karman (14 minutes) - When Carl comes home with his new boyfriend for Christmas after years of being away from his family, he faces the resentment of his younger gay brother Adam, who has been left to care for their aging parents during Carl's absence. (5) THE SYMPHONY OF SILENCE Directed by Cedric Thomas Smith (40 minutes) - High school student Zach struggles to survive in the dog-eat-dog world of high school where he is tormented daily by bullies. Unfortunately, he can't find comfort at home, since one of the bullies happens to be his older brother.

Joachim West is so unsuccessful as a writer that in order to escape his financial trouble, he stages his own disappearance. But only after sending his magnum opus--on which he had worked for the past 10 years--to his publisher. Assuming him dead, she sees the masterpiece as the perfect answer to a predicament: her star author, Fabian Remarque, is struck by writer's block. So she decides to publish Joachim's manuscript under Fabian's name.
