A human perspective of dealing with war and PTSD when a veteran returns home. Instead of experts and the media's message of these issues, I explore the human element to a most inhumane experience.

First hand witness to the infamous World War II fire bombing and destruction of his hometown, Dresden, Germany, 15-year-old Diether Warneck lost his girlfriend and bicycled to the front-lines of the war, enlisting in the German army under Hitler's rule. This single decision would haunt him for the rest of his life. Recalling the series of events that lead to his survival, Diether shares the extreme guilt he hid for seventy years while experiencing a life filled with love, family, intrigue, art and personal accomplishment.

Presented as narrative documentary ,it depicts how a small island Kinmen went through an epic battle 1949 to 1978 turning into the throat to protect Taiwan;In the story,the key to changing the destiny of Kinmen from misery to glory was the aoliang liquor distilled under fire.Battle Spirit begins with the life stories of few old distillers about how they contributed to the land and conquered obstacles in the courrents of history.Their legacy and stories,deserve our remembrance forever.
