A closely observed psychological portrait of four women, whose lives are bound together by an incident on the New York City subway.

Tatsuya Ichihashi became a notorious and wanted fugitive criminal after murdering Lindsay Ann Hawker who had moved to Japan where she was teaching English as a second language. Ichihashi has undergone plastic surgery, become unrecognizable and eluded the manhunt for him. The film follows the autobiography.

The middle-class housewife Natália and her husband Guido Rossi have been married for three years unsuccessfully trying to have a baby. Their best friends are Flora and Guido's partner Jorge that have three children. Guido refuses to be submitted to clinical examination while Natália secretly submits and finds that she is healthy. Natália loves Guido but feels that their marriage is near to the end. When Natália travels to Poços de Caldas with Flora to rest for a couple of days, she meets the student Gustavo and decides to have one night stand with him to get pregnant and save her marriage. Seven months later, Gustavo finds Natália and blackmails her, forcing the future mother to take an ultimate decision.

Dr. Syd has a good practice in the big city but a bad day when her terminal patient finally passes away. Her surgeon boyfriend, whom her best friend Brenda has sarcastically nicknamed "Mr. Personality" and "Settle For", takes this opportunity to offer support but destroys it by telling Syd that dying is part of life and she'd be a better doctor if she stayed more remote from her patients and, oh, by the way, "can I come over tonight"? He is surprised when she says "not tonight." Brenda tells Syd to get away for a few days and suggests Syd change her mind and go back to her small hometown for her school reunion. Brenda points out that since Syd hasn't been back since her father's funeral, she'll be the star of the reunion as a successful doctor who wears the same size as she did in high school. Since Syd hasn't talked to anyone in that village in years, not even her mother, she's unprepared for the collision, between her memories of the past and the truth she finds in the village of today.

A young man is forced to confront his limitations, face the ghosts of the past in order to unite a fractured community and realise his dream of leading his town's Christmas Choir Band to former glory.

Casey's grand plan is to host a billboard sitting contest, where four lucky contestants have the opportunity to win "nine-sixty thousand dollars and a mobile home". All they have to do is be the last person to survive, living on a billboard.
