At age 8, Delphine and her mother are 'banished' to London. Prince Albert often visits as a 'close friend'. The lies and tension are hard to bear for Delphine. At 17, her mother reveals who her real father is. But she must keep it secret.

The secret is leaked. Delphine is stormed by the press. She remains silent and stays in touch with King Albert until 2001, when he rejects her. She tries to reconnect through her art. The discrimination against her art and family worsen.

Delphine goes to court to expose the truth and gain recognition from her father. After 7 years of trials, Delphine is finally recognized as the legal daughter of King Albert II. The reconciliation with the royal family can begin.
