A betrayed wife (Jacqueline Bisset), whose husband leaves her after 25 years, returns to the lake where she first fell in love and begins an affair with the son (Eric Mabius) of her first love.

After her daughter is kidnapped and killed, a mother discovers that there can be something even worse after "the worst."

After her husband is killed in a car accident, Peg, who is deaf, has a nervous breakdown. Her mother assumes custody of Peg's daughter Lisa but after Peg recovers, Peg's mother refuses to let her daughter take back custody,

Mike, a young hired hand in California is working a small farm with a close friend, Dan. Mike is content on the farm and obviously attracted to the handsome Dan. Dan seems to be attracted to Mike as well but is a drifter and not happy as a farmer. He longs to finish out the contract and move on to a big city, perhaps with Mike. Gary, a boy from the next farm over, befriends them during their daily chores. Gary lives with his abusive father, a stepmother and a stepbrother. Gary is drawn to the camaraderie of the young farmhands in part to avoid his problems at home. When an innocent session of skinny-dipping is misconstrued by the boy's father, the young hired hands soon find themselves unjustly suspected of wrongdoing in a suddenly hostile small town.

They go from town to town, a big top on their backs, their show over their shoulder. They bring dreams and disorder to people's lives. They are ogres, giants. They've devoured the theater and miles and miles of road. But the imminent arrival of a baby and the return of a former lover make almost-forgotten feelings resurface. So the party begins.

An Iraqi war vet gets a bank job. A thief recruits him for a heist, but he's in love with a co-worker. They double-cross the thief, escape with the money, and frame him.
