Concocting a scheme by which the couple would divorce, acquire the money and then remarry, Paul pretends to have an affair with Mlle. Fifi. When Florence begins to suspect that her husband's affair is more than a ruse, however, it begins to look as if their divorce scheme will become a reality until Florence's wealthy mother, Mrs. Safford, intervenes and settles the couple's debts as well as their suspicions.

Though both women's lives are forever altered during the holiday, Gaby's new acquaintance will dramatically change the course of her life, in particular.
