She returns home to El Paso, Texas after graduation from San Francisco State University for two weeks before moving to New York to start a new life as a writer for a prestigious literary magazine. While staying with her mother Olivia, father Peter, and uncle Paul and Lee realizes that her entire high school group of misfits has reassembled. The group of six was known in high school for being slight outsiders and keeping themselves fairly isolated. After a painful break up with Riley before college, one of the group's unofficial leaders and member of a famed local band, Lee removed herself completely from her friends. She has not had contact with them for four years, even though the rest of the group has maintained their close bond. Lee rejoins them and what began as an endearing quest for nostalgic fun soon turns to obsession as they continue pushing towards the rush of re-experiencing their memories.
