Heimat ist kein Ort

Heimat ist kein Ort

Inge (54), Klaus (53) and Uwe (44) had and still do not have an easy life. The father gave her to the home when the mother died much too early. Inge Kurbjuweit made it to the dreaded ward manager in the hospital. Her brother Klaus has an alcohol problem and has just lost his driver's license as a result. The end of his job as a taxi driver. Besides, his wife Monika doesn't want to see him anymore. Her younger brother Uwe is a gay single who walks other people's dogs. Only Inge's daughter Jule seems to find a better start in life as a medical student. The siblings share a heartfelt dislike. The greater the shock when they learn when the will is opened that they have to travel together to Poland within 14 days to scatter the father's ashes in selected places. The young Polish notary Krzysztow serves as a scout and watchdog. He can't believe how bad the siblings treat each other, and certainly not that Klaus who doesn't have a license is driving the old Mercedes camper van so cockily that they almost end up in jail after a fight with the Polish police. Only then do everyone slowly come to their senses, while they learn more and more about the dramatic fate of their father, who lost his mother as a child and later his beloved wife - and who had always dreamed of returning to his beloved home. The endless expanse of East Prussia with its lakes and fields calms the mind and promotes tender love ties between the young notary and Jule. Finally, Krzysztow guides them to his sister's traditional wedding, where his ex-girlfriend Nina vehemently demands her rights and Inge is courted. Only Klaus continues to fight his fears of being abandoned with alcohol and ends up with Uwe in the middle of the wedding cake. But the young gay brother of all people paves the way for him to see Monika again. With all the personal changes, the destination of the journey - the legacy - becomes less and less important. Which is also good, because after all, everything is completely different than expected.
