When a murder occurs on an ocean liner docked in New York, the trail leads to Coney Island and a spy ring.

After neutralizing the original curse, Guido, the jewel smuggler who was the only gangster to survive the shoot out in the warehouse, has learned that the spirits of those who were deceased in the gunfight have returned to once again torment the ladies. Guido must know gather himself and figure out who is responsible for the black magic that has brought back the curse.

A little girl, granddaughter of a wealthy industrialist, is kidnapped while her parents are in the mist of a divorce. An aspiring journalist, assisted by his wolf-dog Buck, volunteer with the police and parents to try to find the girl.

Inspector Sörensen, who has finally moved to the Frisian province, has enough to do with himself: He suffers from loneliness, insomnia and inner restlessness - and yet wants nothing more than to stop taking the medication for his anxiety disorder. One night on the country road he almost runs over a young, disturbed woman: malnourished, in her nightgown and blind. When she finally reveals her identity to Sörensen, a web of murder, religious madness and well-kept secrets opens up to him. Sörensen is overwhelmed by the situation, by himself. The place rejects him, the fear returns - and it won't just be a corpse.

A criminal returns to the fake grave where he buried his loot years before and discovers that it has become the shrine of an unknown saint and a thriving little village.
