Matt and David meet Mandie, a mother of three in Calgary who has faced the challenges of raising one child with autism and epilepsy and another with cerebral palsy. Following along, they witness the obstacles and victories she encounters throughout a typical day, gaining a glimpse of her life as a full-time mom/caregiver and an understanding for how, through it all, she maintains her sense of self.

Mitzi, a Montreal-based yoga teacher and accountant stepped up when her father was diagnosed with ALS. Mitzi takes us through her daily life as a caregiver, conveying both the rewards, the struggles and the personal sacrifice the role has taken on her. Sharing how she's dealt with the reality of her father aging and falling ill to this incurable disease, we'll hear the advice and knowledge she hopes to share with those who find themselves in similar situations.

Leah is a Montreal based artist and theater enthusiast whose passion and creativity was fostered by the time she spent as a child with her beloved grandmother. Now Leah's grown-up and her grandmother has begun to travel down the path of dementia. When it became apparent what was happening, for Leah there was no other option but to become a caregiver for her grandmother and be there for her as much as possible.

Four years ago Gloria's life was turned upside down when her husband Francois was diagnosed with an early-onset condition of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Married for 21 years and with a teenage daughter, Gloria has stepped up to essentially become a single parent, the sole financial provider and on top of it has had to cope with the quickly deteriorating condition of her husband. We hear her story, the challenges she faces and the sources from which she draws strength as she perseveres onward.

Sheila is a North Vancouver based mother whose life was tragically turned upside down when her daughter, Shara, was hit by a drunk driver, suffering a traumatic brain injury. Now over twenty years later, Sheila shares her caregiver journey, providing the best possible care for Shara as well as balancing her time as a mother to her younger daughter Bailey. We follow a day in their lives, gaining an appreciation for the bravery and determination it takes to adapt when everything you know is changed in an instant.

Laileen

After a lifetime of travelling around the world due to her husband Brian's career as a representative of the Canadian government, Laileen was ready for the pair to settle down and retire. In 2007, however, Brian was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's and Laileen soon found her life on an entirely different course, that of a caregiver. We learn how life has changed for the couple, the journey they've undergone together and the importance of making every moment count while you still have time together.

This is the part of the caregiver journey that can often be the hardest - letting go. Shamira has been a full-time caregiver for almost twenty years, taking care of her father and then her mother on a 24/7 basis. Shamira shares the emotional conflicts, difficulties and acceptance that comes with taking this step and the importance of caregiving not just as a role, but as a continuous journey.
