In the search for himself, a young Black writer stumbles upon a reality he chooses to ignore.

Leonardo Rossellini is an Italian priest from Rome, assigned to a parish in Payatas, a poor area of Metromanila, Philippines. Leonardo's mission is to counsel battered women and teach poor children. But soon his peace of mind is distraught by the encounter of a woman he used to love when he was still a seminarian. This young woman, Merlinda, is now married to a violent man. She also has a 6 years old child who is missing. Leonardo decides to help her find her son.

Hayat, a Turkish girl in her late teens, is playing on a soccer team when she suddenly falls unconscious. The doctors discover cancer, from which her mother died some years back. Hayat survives, but loses one breast. Her father is seriously worried about her and forbids her any exhausting activities. Hayat escapes, but her former team rejects her. On a small field she meets a new team and falls in love with their trainer Toni, but their relationship soon gets complicated. There will also be conflicts with her former and present soccer teams, an encounter with disease, her father, and, of course, Toni.

At least four of them... : -A statuette of Osiris remembers how two ex-lovers, a model and a good for nothing who claimed to be an Egyptologist, met again one Christmas Eve. -A violin has things to say about Raoul, a humble policeman who lost Solange, a widowed grocer he loved, to a god-dam seducing busker also named Raoul. -A scarf was witness to an eerie romance between a young madman and girl he had saved from suicide. -A funeral wreath lets us know how it caused a young woman to believe her lover dead. After having told their respective story, the objects return to their customary stillness.

Accustomed to always impose his will, Enrique is the prototype of a wealthy petty tyrant belonging to a family of noble lineage. The young María Isabel, coming from a family as powerful as Enrique's, is harassed by him until he manages to marry her. On the wedding night, Enrique forces María Isabel to all kinds of humiliations to satisfy his sexual appetites. After a while, the couple will have a son, but María Isabel feels totally disillusioned with her husband and everything that surrounds her.
