It becomes known that the sabotage group in Murmansk is led by agent Lauri Tarni. It was ordered to repeatedly strengthen the security of the port. Soon, not far from the city, the head of the logistics service, Goncharuk, along with his driver and guards are found killed. Before his death, Goncharuk was interrogated and tortured, this is Lauri's handwriting.

During the operational work, Saburov and his group manage to establish that the saboteurs need a certain Shablovsky, suspected of having connections with the Socialist Revolutionaries, who is serving time near Kandalaksha. Obviously, Lauri needed his knowledge of chemistry. Major Soley is sent to recruit Shablovsky, but events do not unfold at all as Saburov planned.

A German agent organizes a field laboratory in the tundra, but he does not yet trust Shablovsky-Budnichny and is constantly trying to check him.
