Samuel and Julia are two children who live in a community. Samuel was orphaned after birth and lives with his aunt Ermelinda. Julia lives with her father, Don Mateo, a man resentful of life's sorrows due to the death of his wife in childbirth. One morning the children cross the road, since then Samuel can't stop thinking about her and he constantly looks for her to play and be friends. Don Mateo does not look kindly on these behaviors and does everything possible to separate them without success. The children grow up and they still see each other, but already as boyfriends. After an unexpected event, Don Mateo, tired of the situation, takes Julia to a distant town. Samuel looks everywhere for her but can't find her and, resigned, becomes extremely depressed. After some fortuitous investigations Samuel manages to find the town where Julia is, his surprise being great when he sees her in an unforeseen situation. Don Mateo uses brute force to persuade Samuel, but fails, proving the true love that exists between him and his daughter. Two children, Samuel (an orphan) and Julia (motherless), are predestined for a life together. Recently widowed Don Mateo (Julia's father) finds himself uneasy at the thought of eventually losing his daughter and being left alone. As the beautiful love story between the two children unfolds, continuing until their maturity, an unexpected event causes Don Mateo to take drastic measures to try and destroy the feelings that Samuel and Julia have for each other.
