In 1861 Texas, the son of a poor farmer vows to avenge his father's murder committed by the spoiled son of a rich cattleman.

Chang-su recalls the girl whom he loved before he entered the military. At that time she had been working as a housemaid. They meet again years later at a police station and the girl, Yeong-ja reveals that she quit her job after being raped by the son of her employer. Her life got steadily worse until finally she lost an arm in a car accident and had to work as a prostitute to pay for an artificial limb.

A love story based around two characters - Angela and Tennille. Not realizing the love that she's been longing for has been right in front of her face. Angela attempts to tell Tennille how she truly feels before it's too late and Tennille marries someone else.

Their love appears to be impossible, because of the conflict of their religions. Nero burns the city of Rome and blames the Christians, already hated by the pagan Romans.
