Angels vs Bullies

A film divided into five parts. Each part is named after its story's protagonist- Anna, Jerry, Arthur, Zoe, Anais- is written and directed by a different person, and is set in a different part of the world. The stories are not related to one another except through their thematic link to one of the five senses.

"Kaafiron Ki Namaaz" is about a recently court martialed army officer, a writer and a musician who confess their most personal secrets to each other on a rainy Christmas Eve somewhere in Srinagar, Kashmir. What begins as a dramatic discussion between the army officer and the writer in an old, abandoned hotel soon turns into a chilling meeting raising some pertinent issues. Meanwhile, the writer's camera assistant stands as a mute spectator and records everything on his camera.

Naive small town teenager Ellie, is raped and beaten on an outing with some older men. The rape investigation and trial are bungled by both local police and the prosecutor. The rapist's female attorney Lynn Hollister shreds Ellie's tearful account on the stand, as Hollister forcefully defends her client. The only other witnesses are the rapist's cleaned-up male buddies, so the smarmy rapist Carl Berg is acquitted. Ellie's mother, mystery novelist Ruth Rendell, sets out to avenge her daughter, though Ellie's stepfather Frank opposes the plan, fearing repercussions. Mrs. R's daughter (played by Season Hubley, daughter of the animators John and Faith Hubley) is caught in the crossfire between her parents, especially when Frank cautions her against talking to strange men.

Amaziah misses home and her mother who has recently passed away. When her neighbour Ray Judd comes back from holiday tensions flare when he finds a large traditional Mud Hut blocking the sun from his prize winning flowers.

Set in the late 1950s, Floyd (Carl Lumbly), Martha Ree (Juanita Jennings), and Jimmy "Jim-Jam" Ween (Norman D. Golden II) live on land that was promised to Floyd's father and then to Floyd for work they had done. The landowners, the Appletree family, used the promise of the land to keep Floyd Ween working for them.Through a series of events involving Jim-Jam, the young son of Floyd and Martha Ree, the Appletree sons put the transfer of the land in doubt and force the Weens to make a life-changing decision.
