Janur Kuning follows the Indonesian revolutionaries six-hour assault on Yogyakarta, under Suharto, in a show of force against the Dutch army.

During the Battle of the Sutjeska, while attempting to break the lines hoop a partisan detachment remains cut off from the mainstream and left alone. In this impossible position left alone and where the Commissioner at the time of his death and the commander whom his whole squad blamed for the difficult position.Hell on Sutjeska and in humans increases birth of a child brought into the world only surviving woman in the squad. Only a few survivors, at the end, broke it, saving newborn through hostile encirclement.

In 1919, during the post-revolution Russian Civil War, a naval detachment (made up of communist Reds) defends the strategic city of Petrograd from the White Russian counterrevolutionary forces. Director Yefim Dzigan had himself fought for the Bolsheviks in the fleet, so the Red sailors are the heroes of the film. The young Soviet State was besieged by enemies on all sides, and the Revolution was fighting for its life. While clearly propagandistic, the film is often quite poetic visually, not naturalistic as was prescribed by authorities at the time. The film was honored at the 1937 Paris World's Fair. The video version is in Russian with English subtitles.

Set in a German theatre after World War II, two British soldiers are holding a disparate and hostile band of refugees in this theatre, prior to returning them to their homelands. The soldiers have difficulty dealing with the rivalries between Serb and Croat, resistance fighter and collaborator, Pole and Russian, et cetera. The threat of plague briefly unites them, but eventually even this wears off and the refugees unite in their hostility to the British.

Set in World War Two occupied France. Several people gather at a house to celebrate a woman's birthday. Some German soldiers are killed outside. The Gestapo inform the group that they must select two of their party to be executed for the crime. It then becomes a matter of everyone trying to save themselves.

The relationship between a boy and a girl shortly after the start of the war and the arrival of the Germans. He goes to Chetniks, and there he disappears without a trace, and she ,after much torture and solitude, begins to search for him not thinking in those moments of what the horrors of war can bring.
