Et barn er født
Visit to the Tanzanian village of Maliwa, which is far from the capital Dar Es Salaam. In this "forgotten" village there are many diseases and child mortality is high. The local "barefoot doctor" cannot help everyone, and therefore many turn to naturopaths or find solace through prayer from the local bishop.

In Burkina Faso in West Africa (formerly Upper Volta), the hopes are high, almost as big as the problems. In this country on the border of the Sahara, it hasn't rained since 1973, the soil is parched, the trees can't get their roots deep enough to find water. Desertification is a disaster. But nevertheless, the Burkinabes live life with pride and with the hope that things will change with joint effort.

Bella
The beautiful people 'Bella' in Burkina Faso in West Africa are one of the very latest African peoples to be freed from slavery. The small Bella settlement of Tangisi is one of the last inhabited places before reaching the Sahel desert, where the landscape is completely parched. In Tangisi you live a hard and spartan life, here there is no water, no wood for firewood, the land is dry and exhausted and yet you meet friendly and open people who talk about daily life with an infectious joie de vivre.
