Summary Abuelita Perfecta is a person driven ethnography centered by the transnational experience. The subject, Perfecta, tells the story of so many hard-working women who have traveled back and forth across the border, and how at times, their life experiences define their nationality. In the current political climate of Mexican US immigration, she represents women that have had to (re)define themselves over and over again until they 'fit' into their surroundings. Throughout her regular travels in the 1930's, she remembers the open fluid borders that were regulated by documents confirming baptism in the United States. She stands tall comfortably to reveal stories true to her experience as a marginalized person, a woman and a bi-national. View more details
