Summary Contrary to popular myth, butch women do not want to be men. They are not playing a role. They are not going through a rebellious stage or trying to be feminine and failing. Rather butch lesbians see themselves and are content living as women. But while being true to their most authentic selves they inhabit their bodies and behave in some ways that society has decided is appropriate only for men. This film confronts and explores the myths and stereotypes about butch lesbians. The women portrayed thoughtfully examine and challenge society's assumptions about masculinity and femininity and show the courage it takes to be authentic.
