A classical music school in the heart of troubled Port-au-Prince, Haiti, thrives despite decades of entrenched poverty and political strife. When a catastrophic earthquake completely destroys the school in 2010, a stunned and devastated faculty and student body pick up the pieces and find a way to adapt through the power of music and community. Devotion to each other and to the possibilities that the future still holds for them are expressed in the footage of children rehearsing in the rubble and in the rich musical heritage they have inherited.

The Road to Q'ero: A Journey Home explores the transformational journey of a New York family traveling with Lorenzo, an Andean shaman back to his homeland in a remote part of Peru. The travelers are Iva, a film producer and writer living on a sustainable farm in New York's Hudson Valley, her son Jack a New York City filmmaker and photographer; his girlfriend Julie, teacher and linguist; and family friend Katherine, a researcher and recent college graduate from university in England. They have been invited by the Q'ero to do something unprecedented, something that had never been offered to anyone: to enter with cameras and film the sacred initiation ceremonies of these famously reclusive people.

A lyrical documentary about the underlying desire for family and community, told through the voice of the filmmaker. When David's working-class, parents decide to celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary without inviting his partner, this All-American, rural family is dragged into the 21st century.
