Summary William and Paul Moore are African-American twin brothers. Orphaned at an early age, they are raised by their uncle. When they grow up, William invests his inheritance in a business, but Paul squanders his share. Worse, they both fall in love with the same girl. Paul is so greedy and jealous (like Cain of the Bible) that he pushes John off a cliff and reports him missing and presumed dead. John survives the fall, however, though he suffers temporary brain damage and develops amnesia. Fortunately, a doctor cures him, and John finds his way back home.
