Palad ta ang nagbuot

Palad ta ang nagbuot

This is the story of Visayans coming to the MetroManila area in search of greener pastures. Dodong Valderama (Nonito Donaire), a jack-of-trades orphan, and Santo Nino devotee, sis among them, trying his luck in a different place. He meets Inday (Krissel Valdez) and her Lola Angeling (Gloria Sevilla), also Visayan immigrants, who are fish vendors. Angeling dreams for her daughter to become a popular singer (her personal frustration), and hopefully one day, this will get them out of the slums. Angeling is pursued by town widower Max (Max Surban). Dodong, whose idol is the late Flash Elorde, eventually finds a full time job as janitor in a boxing gym. Inday fails to win the town singing contest, much to the disappointment of Lola Angeling. With the help of friend Lao (Garry Lim), Dodong pursues Inday until they become sweethearts, then husband and wife. As luck has it, the now pregnant Inday and the secretly cancer-stricken Lola Angeling are struck down by a rampaging vehicle, putting their lives in danger. Max and Indays cousin, Ester (Dione Monsanto) rush them to the hospital. In need of money for their operations, Dodong is forced to take on an offer to fight the local boxing champion, Dagul (Mon Confiado) in the town fiesta boxing match, as the opponent is down with dengue. But for him to get the money, he should take a fall at the last round, according to manager, Eddie (Baldo Marro). By some stroke of luck, Dodongs strong punches defeat Dagul, but still manages to get his money, as Dagul himself awards this to him in recognition of his strength. Unfortunately, when Dodong arrives at the hospital, he finds out that Lola Angeling has passed, and also his unborn child, while Inday remains in the ICU. Not knowing what to do anymore, Dodong seeks refuge with his friend, the Santo Nino. Lola Angeling appears in a dream and comforts Dodong. She reassures him that everything will be fine. As he wakes up, Dodong returns to the hospital only to find Inday recovering from her accident. In the end, they are blessed with 3 children while Inday is carrying a fourth. And they lived happily ever after.
