A Father's Lament

A short film that was smoothly edited to create an 'ever-looping' storyline that aesthetically coincides with real quotes from real people who experienced Sierra Leone's civil war (West Africa). The message is one of hope and transformation, brought about by organizations that give freely without hesitation. The entire collaborative project was conceived and created on a zero dollar budget; all film-makers, journalists, and composers generously donated their time and expertise in hopes of broadcasting this powerful message. The narrator is a 9-year-old Sierra Leone boy, Amara Mansaray, whose life was saved by one of these organizations. He is seen at 2:37 in the film.

In the middle of the 19th century, at the height of the Opium War, the Chinese people rebelled against the Manchu dynasty. Legends about the courage of Song Jing-Shi, who is called the "Chinese Spartacus", still live among people.

The film portrays the grief of a father whose soldier son was killed in the war in Iraq. His grief is so intense and overwhelming that he actually imagines his son coming home from the war. This short film ends with the father realizing his son is dead and catapults him back into his paralyzing grief
