Casey Gauntt received a phone call in 2008 from a woman he briefly knew 40 years earlier during a summer he spent in the small coal mining town of Coalwood, West Virginia. The woman who called said she had a letter he had left behind. Casey did not remember the letter and says he had never seen it before, but it proved to become an important connection between him, his father and his son.

The nomads all agree that their children have to attend school, that they deserve a better education than they themselves could have, that they need a modern education to come to terms in our changing world. But can traditional nomad lifestyle go together with modern education? What happens to nomad families who move to town for the sake of the children's education? Can there be an alternative to abandoning nomad lifestyle?

Kevin Holmes stopped drumming after the Salvation Army Band rejected him because of his disability; Andrew Chappell had to deal with the double marginality of being gay and disabled, and Christina Corp's medical staff didn't believe she can make her own decisions. The three are key members in the Social Work Inclusion Group at the University of Portsmouth whose role is to guarantee that the point of view of social work service users is taken into consideration. But what happens when into the mix are thrown drama students and Christina, Kevin, Andrew and their friends are faced with the challenge of writing and performing a theater production based on their own personal experiences.
