Headmaster, is an inspired adaptation from POTHICHORU, a short story which portrayed the miserable lives of school teachers in Kerala, during the mid twentieth century. Joseph Mundassery the education minister, read POTHICHORU in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, to reveal the pitiable condition of teachers. Pothichoru pave the way for the revolutionary Education Bill, which was introduced to the assembly in 1958.Though the Bill Failed to get the approval, it inspired a number laws and amendments that substantially improved the salary and ultimately the living standards of school teachers.
