In Kaliningrad two Lithuanian boys meet two Russian girls. They have difficulties in finding places where they can sleep together. But this is the only problem they do solve. All four justly feel miserable because their lives are meaningless (the recurrent dull and poorly kept house façades could well be taken as a comparative symbol). In addition, everyone is so absorbed by his or her own distress and hardly capable of bothering about the anguish of the others. The three days end with a pervasive lack of contact.

Hardwell is a fictional town near the border of two provinces at odds with each other. Meanwhile, the camp Ashley and Ty work at is called Kilometer 72. They have just crossed over into a province whose energy values don't align with their own and run into protests and antipathy. A single, debt-ridden mother takes a job as a pipe labourer at a remote camp near the town of Hardwell. As tensions grow between workers and neighbouring communities, Ashley is challenged to protect the industry and her only source of income. Forming an unlikely bond with a member of her crew, Ashley and Ty help one another navigate hostile working conditions and the complexities of an industry in transition. Pipe Nation is a fictional analysis of the historical, political and economic significance of pipelines. It works to illuminate the unique relationships between individual citizens and the webs of steel which lie below.

An out-of-favor British politician is sent to Brussels as the new European Commissioner for Industry. He is made aware of a web of political and industrial corruption through a series of anonymous letters. "Sometime, Sometime" peers into the uneventful everyday lives of Zi Kien and his single mother. One day he finds out that his mother has a new boyfriend, Mr Lee, and he is worried that he might lose her to this new stranger. Zi Kien decides to imitate adults like Mr Lee by copying their speech, their clothes, and smoking. However, Zi Kien's body is small for his age and he is still yet to become a man so his behavior does not match his physical appearance. Their lives remain uneventful until one night when his mother falls asleep drunk, Zi Kien touches her entangled hair and observes her wrinkled face. The next day she decides to get herself a 'haircut'. Both mother and son begin to act strangely in front of one another, a push and pull of deep desire for love and tenderness yet they get scared sometimes to care too much; causing their relationship to be riddled in anxiety. Because of this, their lives become just a little bit more interesting. They learn of their own unpredictable nature, and how they cope with life as it goes on.
