Summary Firozabad is an industrial city located in the north of India whose principal activity for the past several centuries has been the production of glass and, in particular, the glass bracelets or bangles that Indian women are so fond of. These bracelets are produced by the millions every day in the hundreds of glass works factories across the city. For several months the artist explored this area where nearly all the 600 000 inhabitants work in the glass factories in extremely difficult conditions. The resulting film is hypnotic, with artist's camera insinuating itself into the heart of the incessant ballet of workers, in a reality that is both violent and sensual. View more details
