Rev. James Logan and his wife Beverly Logan were forced into a vicious spiritual warfare against the work of preternatural evil forces that almost broke the church of Jesus Christ.

In 1900, Stepha, the vivacious 30 year old daughter of a wealthy couple, agrees to marry her cousin Paul, who has accumulated large debts as an Austrian army officer. Paul refuses to work or to consummate the marriage, and then his health steadily declines.

The story of a ruthless small time crook's rise from lowly barber shop backroom bookie to high stakes international swindler. Max Werner (Stone) goes from the gambling to crooked stocks and bond dealing,getting ever richer. Dodging the law, he flees to England where he follows through with more stock chicanery, setting up phony companies. After a newspaper exposes one of his associates, he double crosses another to take his girlfriend back to America, where a trap awaits him.

The second "la Mujer del carnicero" (the butcher's wife) is set during the mexican revolution and is about the guilt that a butcher felt after committing a crime.
