Getting the news that his girlfriend had married, the main character of the film deserts the army. A chance meeting with a girl who turned out to be a secretary of a "new Ukrainian" businessman brings the hero to a company engaged in illegal business. Thus he gets involved with the mafia, the police, hired killers and the military police all looking for him. Based on the "The Dreams of the Dead City" novel by Alexandre Bondar.
