Vienna, mid-1800s. Johann Strauss Jr lives in the shadow of his illustrious father, the composer Johann Strauss Sr. A music teacher, he starts to write his own compositions. However, his father is not impressed and openly belittles his son's works.—grantss

The relationship between Johann Strauss Sr. (hereafter referred to as Sr), Johann Strauss (hereafter referred to as Jr), and the latter's writing of what is arguably his most famous composition, The Blue Danube Waltz, is dramatized. Jr is openly dismissed musically by Sr, only playing second violin in his orchestra while totally denouncing his ability as a composer. Jr's girlfriend Raisa, the daughter of a baker, loves his music and wants him to dedicate all his compositions, so far unpublished, to her. Overhearing Jr play, Countess Helga wants him to set one of her poems to music. He does so with Raisa's help and encouragement, she initially unaware the music for the Countess. This act sets off a triangle of sorts at least in Raisa's mind, especially as the Countess goes to extreme lengths to get the composition heard, which Sr would never allow.—Huggo

In the end of the Nineteenth Century, in Vienna, the handsome aspiring musician Schani Johann Strauss, who is the estranged son of the famous maestro Johann Strauss Sr., and his girlfriend Resi Ebezeder, who is daughter of Ebezeder that owns a traditional bakery and café, are in deep love for each other. When there is a fire in the bakery, Resi loses her skirt and runs to a nearby shop to get another one. Schani runs after her and meets Countess Helga von Stahl, who is married to Prince Gustav. The countess becomes interested in the music of Schani and he becomes her protegee. However, the jealous Resi is suspicious of her true intentions. Schani composes the "Blue Danube" waltz with the support of Reise and the countess, but his father despises his music and humiliates him. But soon the countess and her publisher Anton Drexler plots a scheme to help Schani without his acknowledgment to promote his waltz.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
