In mid 2016, the grass-roots group 'Rutland Welcomes' decides to help resettle Syrian refugees to this small Vermont town. The election of Donald J. Trump later that year puts their plan to rest. Over the next two years, 'Rutland Welcomes' members find themselves at odds with a nation that is swept up by the promise to 'Make America Great Again.'
