Summary 'Birdcage' is a little film about nature and culture, animal and man. A troubled relationship and dilemma strained especially during the Victorian period and the beginning of modernism, with it's focus on virtues, wealth, ideals and cultivation. A birdcage is an emotional space, an abstract idea, a geographical place, a restriction, a container, but perhaps even a home of a sort, if it's the only place you've known. Three women meet in a forest to perform a ritual, and discover something about themselves. But will they like what they find? The film is experimental and combines choreography and cinematography with animation, in a way that tries to put focus on the emotional state of the dancers, to reflect on the themes of the film.
